The Alliance is pursuing an ambitious shared agenda of increasing housing choices and affordability, bettering our transportation system, protecting our natural resources and parks, and promoting economic development and jobs creation.
- Public Policy Action. The Alliance pursues a variety of short-term and longer-term administrative and legislative reforms while pressing for more rational capital investment decisions by state decision-makers.
- Citizen Network. From regional agencies to community-based organizations to concerned citizens, there is a growing recognition of the connections between housing, transportation, land protection, equity and economic competitiveness. The Alliance collaborates with groups across Massachusetts to convene diverse stakeholders in developing shared regional agendas. To increase civic engagement in public policy and link regional stakeholders to state policy dialogs, the Alliance publishes Citizen Network, providing up-to-date and breaking news on smart growth issues. To sign-up to receive this e-bulletin, please email André Leroux and write “subscribe” in the subject line.
- Research and Analysis. The Alliance develops tools and information about the impacts of haphazard development and the ways that we need to grow in order to build our economy to serve the needs of all our residents. Reports under development include “Shared Destinies: A Smart Growth Agenda for Massachusetts” and a research piece on the costs that sprawl are imposing on municipal governments, the state budget and family budgets.
